Our projects

Sustainability in the Maasai community

Our focus is to work with our Maasai team to make it possible to use our land, communities and nature in the most sustainable way. Below we show an excerpt of the projects, which we support with knowledge, time and donations:

Corn mill for the women's association in Lopolun

In Lopolun, a typical Maasai village in northern Tanzania, a women's associaion was founded and asked what they would want for their families. They suggested to build a corn mill which the surrounding residents could use to grind their corn. Through the operation, the non-profit association could secure a small, regular basic income for the women. Two of our walking safari clients, Barbara and Ingrid Beilner, organized a charity Christmas market in Großenzersdorf (Lower Austria). With the market's profit they financed the mill project, which they visited themselves in July 2019. The corn mill was inaugurated with a big celebration. Meanwhile, the women could use the mill's profits to cultivate a small vegetable field. The vegetables are sold to the surrounding families and the market.

School fees for Maasai girls

Education is the key to envolve communities. Together with our Austrian non-profit association "Osiligi Lemaa", we are providing a high quality school visit to Maasai children. Nadutari is one of them. She is a Maasai girl and lives with her family, her father Kimani and her mother Nairoshi in a typical Maasai village near Wasso, Northern Tanzania. Nadutari would like to go to elementary school. There is an international school with boarding school in the nearby village Sakala. The school starts with one year of kindergarten / pre-school and then 7 years of elementary school follow. After the visit of Franz Urbanek in 2016, a wonderful donation project has been initiated. Since the beginning of 2017, we can send Nadutari to school, thanks to many generous donors. We are still collecting for the upcoming school years.
